Action Comics #1000 Midnight Release Party
Action Comics reaches issue #1,000. Celebrate a comic book milestone with That’s Entertainment!
The longest running comic book series of all, DC’s Action Comics, reaches a milestone with the release of issue 1,000! Action Comics #1 featured the very first appearance of a new character called Superman back in 1938.
“Eighty years ago, the world saw the first true super-hero on the cover of Action Comics #1,” says That’s Entertainment owner Paul Howley, “and the series is still going strong at issue number 1,000!”
“Don’t forget that we’re located at the corner of Park Avenue and Lois Lane” says That’s Entertainment Manager, Ken Carson. “Lois Lane was in the very first issue of Action Comics, too, along with Superman, and I’m sure she’s in Action Comics #1,000.”
To celebrate this moment in pop culture history, That’s Entertainment will stay open an extra 5 hours, and host a “Midnight Release Party”. The event is free and open to the public. The party starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 17th, and continues until 1:00 a.m., early Wednesday morning.
However, Action Comics #1000 and all other new DC titles will be available for purchase starting at Midnight, when the date officially turns to Wednesday, April 18th.
Also, almost all items in the store will be 20% off (excluding new comics books) throughout the entire 5-hour celebration from Tuesday 8:00 p.m. to Wednesday at 1:00 a.m.!
Join the “action” with a live musical performance by singer/songwriter Bunk Pickett, who will be performing pop-culture-related tunes in the store’s Red Room from 11:00 p.m. until Midnight. Attendees are welcome to complimentary coffee and donuts while they listen and mingle.
Anyone who arrives in full costume will receive $5.00 in store credit. Cosplayers may be photographed and featured on social media.
“Super-heroes dominate movies and television these days, “ says Marketer Sorana Gatej, “and Action Comics is the title that started it all, and it has continued through all the decades since. That’s what makes the 1,000th issue milestone so important.”
